I wrapped up my loom knitting class the last Sunday in December. I gave all the Ladies in my class a cute tissue pouch that I crocheted for them, in their favorite colors. I caught a Greyhound bus back to my hometown a few days later, to enjoy the holidays with my Family. Bad weather and rain were predicted for that week, but I was lucky and never got wet. My Daughter, Granddaughter and I went shopping. We hit ever Dollar Tree, and 99 cent stores we could find. Plus a few Five Below stores in between. When we were tired, and all shopped out we went back to my daughter’s place. The next day we went out for the food we needed for our Mexican Dinner menu. We usually have each person assigned to a particular item to bring, LOL! Somehow that never works out. Anyway, it worked out and we end up with lots of food left over. We’ve always got together and celebrated on Christmas Eve. We don’t do much gift giving, instead we play a white elephant game using $1.00 items. We wrap or bag up the items, then toss them in the middle of the floor, each person gets a number, and you pick a gift accordingly. Of course, the gimmick is you unwrap the item for all to see. Amazing how quickly a war breaks out over a $1.00 item. The shenanigans began when you find out you have an item everyone wants. Hiding it under the couch or behind your back doesn’t work. Somebody will come for it and not leave till they get it. Usually, their quest is short lived because someone else wants that item too. Sometimes, a person will get it back just to give it to their partner, who lost it in the first place. There are always a few items in the pile that nobody wants, and you get stuck with them. Either way all items are frozen after the third move. It’s a crazy game, but we make it fun. Who knows if these are the correct rules, but that’s how we play it. It’s usually after midnight when we finish playing, so we usually wear our Christmas P.J.s., eat, drink, take pictures, and LOL! Can’t wait till next Christmas Eve. Hope you had a great end to your 2023 too. Have a gr8 2024!
Buy the way, While I was out Dollar Tree hoping for white elephant gifts, I found a small Loom knitting gadget and a yarn ball holder. Not a bad gift for me to give to myself for $2.50. I have not seen these in my local Dollar Trees stores. I’m always in the market for a good loom knitting gadget. On the way back home on the bus, I tested it out, not sure what I will make with it yet. But this will be my new loom knitting toy, for 2024.
